YouTube’s video watch page has got a facelift on mobile. The new design comes just days after Google announced that both the Android and iOS apps will soon receive updates.
One of the latest updates that most users will notice is the status of the comment box. YouTube mobile users can now view and post comments by tapping on the comment box at the bottom of the channel bar, along with the subscription box – where previously users had to scroll down to the end of the video page to view or post comments.
Meanwhile, the YouTube music app is also getting some new features, including the “Explore” tab and more. Google said the update was “now available” for the app’s Android and iOS users.
Beginning with the YouTube update, the comment bar on any video page will now be popular with Android and iOS users of the YouTube app. Google said in a blog post last month that the tech giant has found that most people “write comments with a new design.” Additionally, Google has introduced large thumbnails in the “Up Next” feed. In the post, Google noted that with this update, users “see more information about each video at a glance.”
Google described the new YouTube update, “When you scroll through the feed, you’ll also see a channel icon underneath each video to help you find your favorite creators.”
Finally, Google said in April that YouTube was displaying “new types” of content, including videos in the Next Feed, on Android and iOS app video pages. These include “Community Posts,” YouTube Mix “and more. The feature is also added to the video-sharing platform.
