Jose Mourinho responds excessively
Spruce lost the game 1–0 to Belgium, with the Portuguese manager making four changes at half-time and then to his side
“I think I would have made 11 [half-time changes],” he admitted. “I didn’t make five changes because I was scared of 45 minutes without any change.
“The only mistake was me. I made the team. I picked players to start with and half the time, I tried to improve the situation, but it was not enough.
“You know our best team. But I always think the players have a chance to come. We have a big team with a lot of good players.
“It is my responsibility to give them the opportunity to play and hold with both hands, to be in a position to ask even more.
“And tonight my future choices will be very light. But again, only one will be responsible.”
The defeat put them in second place with six points against Group Jello Antwerp. The Premier League team is on points with Lask but the goal is by a margin.
