Kenyan police have said they arrested 17 suspected al-Shabaab recruits.
The police said the suspects were arrested at their hideout in Samburu county in Rift Valley province.
Kenyan authorities added that the suspected al Shabaab recruits were being prepared to be transported to Somalia.
Area police chief John Kemboi said the 17 were hiding in the holding centre, a two-room house near Samburu market.
They are 2 female and 15 male aged between 18-27 years.
“Our informers tipped us, and we raided the house,” Kemboi told the local newspaper.
The youth confessed to having been promised jobs with huge salaries.
Identification documents show that they come from Tana River, Kilifi, Nakuru, Baringo and Kisii counties.
Officers from the Kenya Anti-Terror Police Unit based in Mombasa are continuing with interrogations at a police station in Kwale.
They will be arraigned in Kwale court on Tuesday.
